Event Wrap Up:
The hour flew by as we heard from local change makers David Downs, Paul Scott and Jo Turner and learnt that with the right people and passion it is possible to get to market quickly (in less than 10 days!) and make a difference to thousands of lives and businesses. Inspiring is an understatement and we’re proud to bring you their stories, spread the initiatives and hopefully inspire more good and connections in these uncharted times.
What started off as helping the cafe down the road, David Downs and team have grown (and pivoted multiple times!) SOS Business to a nationwide movement to Save Our Small Businesses.
Speed and agility were just two of the key components that Clearpoint and Paul Scott brought to the table when creating the NZ Govt. WhatsApp channel, showing what private and public can do together. The WhatsApp channel, designed to get current and correct information to NZers at speed, and take the pressure off other services like Health Line, was quick to market and already proving an asset to NZ. Phase 2, the Daily Health Check has just soft launched and will provide additional data back to the government in effort to keep us safe from COVID outbreaks. Last but not least, Jo Tuner shared the effort and impact HelpTank continues to have on the NZ landscape. HelpTank has traditionally existed to support charities and not for profits through matching their needs with skilled professional volunteers. Like SOS Business, they quickly saw that Covid-19 was devastating small NZ businesses and opened their channels to support those businesses through the matching of needs with volunteers. If you’ve got time and skills to share, or you’re a charity, not-for-profit or small business with needs, please visit HelpTank.nz.
About the Event:
We are living in unprecedented times with the Covid-19 crisis impacting every part of life as we know it. But through the chaos, there’s a silver lining of humans helping humans, and the role of tech has never been so important.
We’re hosting a virtual Meetup to bring our community together, share some of the great COVID-19 response initiatives and provide a place for people to ask questions, ask for help, or offer support and skills.
