Tech for Good Events.

Our events are informal with a mix of speakers from innovation and social change organisations, and case studies from across the social enterprise sector. This is a chance to share ideas, your projects, your challenges and opportunities! We encourage those across the digital tech and creative industries to get involved and share experiences and knowledge on the use of digital tech.

*We All Gonna Make It.

A now-popular Web3 term, mostly used in the Crypto and NFT space to express camaraderie to fellow traders, friends or followers. It's a rallying cry for everyone to be successful in the space, but is it really possible...?

Putting purpose at your core

Event Wrap up:

After a disrupted year, this was our first Tech for Good event for 2021. An awesome turnout by the community to network and listen to our inspiring speakers on ‘Putting purpose at your core’.

First up we heard from Guillaume Dehan who shared his inspiring story of creating fintech Supergenerous.

An idea that gained momentum when meeting his business partner at the first Tech for good event, 3 years ago.

Putting purpose and co-design at the core of how they operate to build Zebra’s not unicorns, profit and purpose leading to meaningful outcomes.

Next up we had a panel discussion facilitated by Kate Thomas of Spark Foundation.
The panel consisted of Guillaume Dehan (Supergenerous), Edwina Mistry (CreateOps), Rod Snodgrass (The Exponential Agency) and Katharine Broughton (Tomorrow Inc).

A great discussion on how purpose and business can work hand in hand, and how we can start to contribute to this.
From big corporates, to not for profits and start-ups, making sure there is a true purpose to scale and be profitable. This purpose should be integrated into how you operate, your people and what you do.
A challenge from the audience was, while we all want to do more purposeful work most of us have bills to pay and mouths to feed.
The answer - start small, just do a little bit and as time and resources allow you will eventually be able to increase this and make the difference you want to.

How can we leverage technology to reduce food wastage?

New Zealanders throw away over 157,300 tonnes of food a year and this is a growing problem impacting our people, our environment and our food resources.

How do we not only hold ourselves more accountable for our personal food wastage, but help and demand more of our retailers, businesses, and government. It starts with our own actions, educating ourselves and others, and helping drive the movement for change. With a number of organisations making huge efforts in the space, we hope to combine our collective effort to reduce food wastage in NZ.

Inclusive Design & Accessibility

The world we live in is for everyone, but are we designing with that in mind? A quarter of all New Zealander’s live with a disability, and with an aging population, that number is growing. It’s time to recognise the power of technology in creating a more accessible world - with tech and good design, we can change the world.
